What we do

We— the ‘Elders’ who developed the CALL to action in this website—  come from diverse continents, cultures and political backgrounds. Many of us accumulated experience in relatively long lives, while a few of us are 'Elders of the future'. Independently of age, we all share a sense of social and moral responsibility and a commitment to act against the militarism and wars increasingly engulfing our societies.  We refuse to be acquiescent spectators. We stand up, say 'not in our name!' and hope to motivate others to share our concerns.

We started meeting online and learning from one another in June 2024 and, since then, we have been meeting once a month.   Here are the recordings of our meetings on diverse subjects related to militarism. We are a lean and minimally structured network of committed Elders and allies, embracing a plurality of strategies and activities, and seeking joint learning and stronger collective impact.  The ‘nodes’ at various levels in the network, may be geographically-or topic-based and are self-organized and autonomous, although may loosely coordinate initiatives in a horizontal way.  We are affiliated to  World BEYOND War (see the World Beyond War pledge) and to  the STOP RE-ARM Europe campaign.  To participate in the network, contact: elders4peace(at)gmail.com
